Therapies

The therapies we offer are listed on the left.

Because it is not always obvious which type of therapy will suit you best, we have arranged this page to let you either search our index of Conditions and then read about suitable therapies, or you can read about some therapies and what they are used for.

Details about the training, qualifications and regulation of each type of therapist can be found on their organisation\'s website. There is a link to these under each Therapy.

We have used the abbreviation CAM throughout, to mean Complementary and Alternative Medicine therapies.

The gym/physical therapy room contains a variety of fitness equipment, so come along and get fit, lose weight, or just enjoy exercising.

Complementary or alternative...what is the difference?

In a nutshell, a complementary therapy such as aromatherapy is one which is not part of conventional western medicine, but can be used with it. Alternative medicine on the other hand is an entire medical system based on beliefs which do not correspond with conventional medicine and so may be used instead of conventional medicine. Traditional chinese medicine (TCM) and Ayurveda are the most obvious examples of this.

In practice though, alternative medicine is often used by people at the same time as conventional medicine and so the distinction is blurred.
