About Us

Calverley Clinic Community Interest Company is a complementary therapy clinic with a difference. Our aims are to improve access and choice in health care in rural Northumberland, by promoting complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).

Integration
We also want to see CAM integrated with conventional medicine, where that is the choice of the patient, even though we are independent of the NHS. In 1989 a MORI poll showed that 74% of the public surveyed were in favour of complementary medicine being made available on the NHS. By 2000, only just over half of health authorities reported some CAM availability through local health authorities, but not for all their patients. Availability in the Northeast via the NHS is still the lowest in the country. The good news is there are signs of some change. >

Quality
All our therapists are fully trained, qualified and registered. We are all also committed to continuing professional development (keeping up to date). See the Therapies section for more information.

The Clinic was founded by Kate Thick and her brother Dr Tony Thick in 2007.
